Hello CRA Families,

Welcome to Quarter 4 — we are on the home stretch of this school year! This letter is FULL of important dates and info. Please save it or print it for your reference. It will also be posted on cra.dpsk12.org.

  • 9th, 10th and 11th grade students who have not opted out will take the SAT and PSAT on Wednesday April 17. CRA teachers have been working hard to prepare your students for this test. If you still plan to opt your student out, please email me vicky_virnich@dpsk12.net, call 720-424-2213, or contact Matt Christensen at 720-424-2214. Seniors who are ON TRACK TO GRADUATE and students who have opted out will NOT have school on 4/17/24. We will communicate with Seniors who are required to attend on 4/17. Students who are taking the PSAT or SAT will have an early dismissal depending on the length of their test.
  • Friday 4/19/24 is a teacher work day in DPS. No school for students.
  • We continue to see cell phones as a disruption to student learning. The policy is that students must follow each teacher’s directions regarding cell phone use for that lesson; sometimes teachers have students access their phones as part of the lesson. If a student refuses to comply with the teacher, an administrator will be called and the phone taken for the day. We also continue with our policy: students who have 2 or more Fs must turn their phones in at the front desk until they move at least one of those Fs to passing. If the student refuses to turn the phone to the admin when requested, a parent meeting will be set up to develop a cell phone plan.
  • We will be taking a school field trip to the Colorado Rockies game on Thursday May 9. Because school buses are not available to us in May, students will be dismissed at lunch and will be expected to find their own transportation to Coors Field where we will meet them at 1PM with their tickets. Please call the office if you know your student WILL NOT be attending so we can have an accurate head count for tickets and to keep track of our students. Per the CRA Innovation Plan, you have consented for your students to take part in school field trips. However, you can call us to opt your student out. We can excuse them at noon, or offer them an alternative assignment here at school.
  • We will have a therapy dog at CRA this quarter! Having a well-behaved dog here is another way for us to offer a welcoming and comforting environment at Compassion! We have conferred with the school nurse and DPS Risk Management Office to ensure we are following all rules and protocols. If you have a concern about the presence of a dog in our building regularly, please reach out to me.
  • Senior families will continue to get updates about graduation. But a reminder to all families that Friday May 24, CRA will be closed so staff can focus on this important celebration!

THANKS FOR BEING PART OF THE PACK!
